US-headquartered Corvias has partnered with Sunstone Energy Development and City, Light & Power to complete Phase III of the energy independence effort at US Army Garrison Fort Riley. Phase III included two solar photovoltaic arrays. These were interconnected in December. The project stabilized energy costs and enhanced security for Fort Riley housing. The system offset nearly 40% of the housing community’s annual electricity use. It also contributed to Fort Riley’s $2 billion economic impact. The project aligned with the United States Department of Defense’s goal. The goal is to meet 100% of critical mission energy needs by 2030. Sunstone Energy Development is a joint venture of Corvias Solar Solutions and Onyx Renewables. It has delivered renewable solutions for Corvias Army housing for a decade. These installations improved energy reliability for service members. The new arrays expanded the Corvias-led solar program. It already included two rooftop phases.
