Cero Generation, a European solar and storage IPP, has started operating the 48MW Castrum solar PV project in Montalto di Castro, Italy. The project became operational on June 20, 2025. It spans 86 hectares and uses over 88,000 bifacial modules on single-axis trackers. Castrum is supported by a long-term, subsidy-free PPA with Centrica Energy. It was designed to maintain agricultural activity on site. Environmental measures such as tree planting were also included. The project is expected to generate about 90,000 MWh of electricity each year. This output can supply power to nearly 34,701 homes. It is also projected to avoid 30,929 tonnes of CO₂e emissions annually.Cero Generation, which recently began operating its 48MW Castrum project in Montalto, Italy, has also secured funding for 244.7MW of additional PV projects.
