EDP Renewables North America and California Water Service have entered into a 20-year power purchase agreement. The deal covers the installation of a 2.35MW DC / 1.75MW AC solar PV system at Cal Waters Northeast Bakersfield Treatment Plant. The onsite array is expected to generate around 3,800MWh of electricity each year. Over the course of the agreement, this output may reduce Cal Waters grid electricity costs by approximately $1.7 million, based on current rates. The initiative supports the utilitys approach to managing long-term energy expenses at one of its largest service areas. It also contributes to EDPR NA DG’s broader portfolio of distributed solar energy projects currently active across California.
