BlueWave, a Boston-based developer of solar and energy storage systems, has expanded its portfolio to include agrivoltaic projects. The company has completed the 3.5 MW DC Rockwood project in Palmer and the 2.2 MW DC Gurney project in Dighton, Massachusetts. According to BlueWave, both sites span a combined 34 acres and integrate elevated solar arrays with active crop cultivation and livestock grazing. BlueWave said that the projects were developed in collaboration with local farm families to preserve agricultural activity and diversify farm income. The dual-use model has allowed energy generation without displacing farmland, demonstrating a shift in the company’s operational strategy. While BlueWave continues to build conventional solar and battery storage projects, it is now actively advancing agrivoltaics as a viable land use approach in its ongoing development efforts.
