UK-basedBluestone Energy has secured planning consent for the 49.5 MW Middleton Farm solar project in Renfrewshire, its largest development to date. The approval was described by chief executive Freddy White as a milestone in the company’s transition from a developer to an independent power producer. Bluestone has said the project will reach Final Investment Decision in 2026, with construction expected soon after. Cogeo Planning & Environmental Services carried out surveys, technical studies, and public engagement to demonstrate ecological and regulatory compliance. Bluestone’s land, grid, and planning division, led by Dave Robertson, Sat Ubhi, and Dan Sadler, secured the land agreements and grid connection. The company is in discussions with Renfrewshire and Glasgow councils regarding a potential power purchase agreement. Bluestone is advancing a UK pipeline of more than 4 GW.
