The Bilbao Port Authority, the governing body responsible for managing the Port of Bilbao, has awarded a €11.48 million (~$ 13.6 million)contract for constructing and maintaining four solar PV plants. The joint venture includes Viuda de Sainz, RadimerServiciosEnergéticos, Achiles Ingeniería Fotovoltaica, and Solar 360 de Repsol y Movistar. These plants are part of the BilbOPS project to power the port's onshore power supply (OPS) system. Installations include 2,424.4kW at A-6 Dock, 809.6kW at Zierbena, 527.12kW at Getxo, and 494.36kW at Santurtzi. The construction deadline is eighteen months. A two-year operations and maintenance contract is included, with a one-year extension option. The first phase ends in early 2026 with €3.9 million (~$ 4.5 million)in EU grants. The second phase runs through 2027, backed by €50.1 million (~$ 57.8 million)in funding and an €80 million (~$ 92.62 mllion)EIB loan.
