Philadelphia-based Doral Renewables has selected Bechtel, a project management company, to construct the Mammoth Solar project in Indiana. The 1.3 GW (AC) Mammoth Solar project includes three phases—Mammoth South, Central I, and Central II. Together, these will deliver 900 MW (AC), expected to power around 200,000 homes and increase Indiana’s solar capacity by over 20%. Construction preperation started earlier this year, and Bechtel has now received the go-ahead to begin full construction. The work includes engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning. Around two million solar modules will be installed, half of which are made in the US. The project will create 1,200 jobs at peak, including roles for apprentices. Completion is expected in 2027. The site will also feature agrivoltaics, combining solar panels with livestock grazing and crop growing. Recently, HSBC provided Doral Renewables with a $100 million credit facility.
