Madgascar-headquartered AXIAN Energy, Pan-African renewable energy developer, has begun construction of the 60 MW NEA Kolda solar power plant in Tankanto Escale, Senegal, with a 72 MWh storage system. The project aimed to provide electricity access to over 235,000 people and support Senegal’s 40% renewable energy target by 2030. Development finance institutions, including EAAIF, FMO, and DEG, contributed €84 million (~$95.71 million), with total investment reaching €105 million (~$119.58 million). Voltalia and Entech led design and construction. AXIAN Energy allocated nearly 2 billion FCFA to local initiatives, including healthcare, education, agriculture, and livestock support. Around 400 regional workers were engaged in construction and future operations.
