UK-headquartered Aura Power has secured planning permission for the 30 MW Marsh Lane Solar Farm between Palgrave and Wortham in Mid Suffolk, following finalisation of a Section 106 agreement. The project, unanimously approved by the local planning committee in April, includes measures to protect Skylark nesting areas. Developed with three local landowners, the farm is aimed at supporting diversification and providing long-term revenue for local businesses. Once operational, it is expected to supply electricity to about 12,000 homes annually and save 11,000 tonnes of COâ‚‚. The project will also deliver biodiversity gains through grassland, wildflower meadows, and habitat creation. Construction is planned to begin in Spring 2027, with grid connection scheduled for September 2027. A community benefit fund of GBP 12,000 per year will be made available to support local projects throughout the solar farm’s lifetime.
