Italy-based O&M and engineering company Stern Energy has completed the refurbishment of Parma I solar power plant in Parma, Italy. The project replaced a 6 MWp fixed-tilt plant with a 9 MWp single-axis tracker plant based on Astronergy's ASTRO N5 modules. Astronergy, a Chinese PV module supplier, provided 14,400 ASTRO N5 SMBB technology modules for the project. The modernization, according to Stern Energy, added 50 % capacity and overall generation efficiency. The facility is made to provide power to approximately 3,000 homes in the region. Astronergy indicated that the collaboration with Stern Energy is part of continued cooperation on solar projects in Italy, France, and Germany, where the two firms are targeting improved technical performance and long-term operating reliability of photovoltaic systems.
