Cebu-based AppleOne Group has entered the renewable energy sector through its subsidiary Astronergy by launching a solar farm in Zamboanga del Norte. The 23-hectare site, now in testing and commissioning, featured 10,000 solar panels and aimed to generate up to 7 MW of direct current power in its first phase. The plant was set to start full operations by September 2025 through a power deal with ZANECO. The project helped support the Philippines’ push to rely more on its own energy sources, as noted in an IEEFA report. It contributed to local job creation and improved electricity access. AppleOne selected the location for its grid connectivity and scalability potential. Future expansion could raise capacity to 25 MW and serve other regions. The project operated under a single cooperative agreement, with plans for joint ventures, including foreign partnerships.
