UAE-based Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), an autonomous UAE institution, has funded a 6.3 MW solar power plant in Comoros with AED 25.7 million (~$ 7 million). The plant was inaugurated in April 2025 in Moroni to improve energy access and reduce fossil fuel reliance. The project aimed to enhance electricity supply, support economic growth, and create jobs. It was integrated into the national grid to ensure stable power delivery. The UAE and Comoros government representatives attended the event. Since 1979, ADFD has extended AED 439.4 million (~$119.6 million) in funding to Comoros across multiple sectors. The initiative supported SDGs related to energy, climate action, and partnerships.
