India’s Adani Green Energy (AGEL) has announced that its total operational renewable energy capacity has reached 12.25 GW. This happened after commissioning an additional 275 MW solar power project at Khavda, Gujarat. Adani Green Energy Twenty-Five Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary, operationalized the project. A regulatory filing confirmed that the plant received the necessary clearances. The decision to start power generation was made on February 27, 2025. The plant began operations on February 28, 2025. AGEL became the first renewable energy company in India to exceed 12 GW of operational capacity. Its portfolio included 8.3475 GW solar, 1.651 GW wind, and 2.259 GW wind-solar hybrid capacity. The company stated that the 12.2581 GW capacity supplied electricity to over 6.2 million homes and reduced approximately 22.64 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually. AGEL is developing a 30 GW renewable energy plant on 538 sq km of land in Khavda, Gujarat, with 2.824 GW already operational.
