Spain-based, ACCIONA Energía, has signed the EPC contract with POWERCHINA, a China-based infrastructure contractor, to develop the 180 MWp Daanbantayan solar facility in the Cebu province of the Philippines. According to a statement by ACCIONA Energía, the EPC contracts are signed on December 16, 2025 in Manila, marking the successful initiation of the construction activity at the power site. The solar power facility was to be erected in the Daanbantayan town and stemmed from a public-private partnership agreement signed with the Cebu province governor in March 2025. In the statement, the firm stated the deal signifies the initial LGU-led Philippines deal in a solar power facility of its size under the PPP arrangement: The venture required an investment of around $ 120 million with the potential of producing 280 GWh of power each year of which POWERCHINA undertook construction, with the planned operation to occur in late 2026.
