Burns & McDonnell has started construction on a 297 MWdc (250 MWac) solar facility for Consumers Energy, marking the utility’s first large-scale solar project. Set for completion in 2026, the Muskegon Solar Energy Center will cover 1,900 acres and generate enough power for approximately 40,000 homes annually. This project is part of Consumers Energy’s plan to add 8,000 MW of utility-scale solar by 2040. Burns & McDonnell is handling the project with an integrated EPC approach, including site permitting, substation construction, and interconnection. Key components include First Solar Series 7 modules, Array Technology trackers, Siemens Gamesa inverters, and Shoals Technologies Group and CAB Solar Cable Management tools.
