The Bundesnetzagentur, Germany’s regulatory authority for electricity and gas, announced the results of its innovation auction, which closed for bids on September 1, 2024. The auction, open to wind and solar projects combined with secured generation, saw significant interest, with bids totaling 1,856 MW, over three times the 583 MW volume offered. Of the 154 bids received, only 50 were successful, with a combined awarded volume of 587 MW. The Bundesnetzagentur holds the next auction for May 2025, while an auction for biomethane installations will close in April 2025.
