The Maryland Energy Administration has launched the Maryland Solar Access program under the Brighter Tomorrow Act of 2024, signed by Governor Wes Moore. This initiative offers incentives of up to $7,500 per eligible household for solar panel installations. Incentives are calculated at $750/kW of DC solar capacity, following recommendations from the 2023 Maryland Task Force. Funding will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, including for third-party-owned systems, with details to follow in a forthcoming Funding Opportunity Announcement. Interested parties should review the Notice of Intent and Request for Information by June 30, 2024. This initiative supersedes the Residential Clean Energy Rebate Program and will continue until November 30 or until funds are depleted. Additionally, the Brighter Tomorrow Act mandates the standardization of residential solar permitting through SolarAPP+, which is funded by the Maryland Energy Administration.
