Germany-based BayWa r.e., has successfully completed and handed over a 200 MW (AC) solar project to Nevada Gold Mines (NGM), a company operated by Canada-based Barrick Gold Corporation. Spanning 1,500 acres in Northern Nevada, the project supplies 260 MW (DC) of renewable energy to NGM. Constructed in two phases, the first phase became operational in December 2023, followed by the second in June 2024. BayWa r.e. managed the entire construction process, ensuring timely delivery, performing all electrical work, installing solar modules, and maintaining quality control. Locally sourced labor has contributed over 200,000 labor hours to the project. The new solar facility will supply 17% of NGM’s annual power needs while cutting carbon emissions by 234 kT per year.
