Australia-headquartered ZEN Energy had proposed a 230 MW solar array with up to 2,048 MWh of distributed battery storage near Maude in South Australia. The plan included an overhead transmission line linking the site to the Bundey Substation. The project area was 5,562.3 hectares (ha), with 589.83 ha allocated for the solar facility. About 4 lac panels and 46 inverter stations were included in the design. Construction required partial vegetation clearance approved at 602.73 ha. Layout changes were made to avoid mallee vegetation and sensitive ecological areas. Buffers were applied around Southern Whiteface habitat where possible. The construction was expected to start in 2025 and conclude in 2026. Generation was planned for late 2026. Components were expected to operate for more than 20 years before domestic recycling.
