Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp Industries Ltd has entered into a share sale agreement to acquire Alinta Energy in Australia. The transaction marked Sembcorp’s entry into the Australian energy market. Alinta Energy, Australia’s integrated energy companies, has operated 3.4 GW of generation capacity and served about 1.1 million customers. The portfolio included a 10.4 GW renewables and firming development pipeline. The acquisition expanded Sembcorp’s geographic presence and diversified its earnings base. The deal was subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals. Completion was expected in the first half of 2026.
