Australia-based Pacific Energy, a provider of sustainable distributed energy, has completed a 61 MW renewable energy expansion at Tropicana gold mine in Western Australia under a 10-year build-own-operate agreement. Pacific Energy added 61 MW of renewable energy to its existing 54 MW gas-fired power station at Tropicana, reaching a total hybrid capacity of 115 MW. The expansion included four 6 MW wind turbines, a 24 MW solar farm, and a 13 MW grid-forming battery storage system. The project combines wind, solar, battery storage, and gas, supported by advanced control systems that enable extended renewable-only operations. The system aimed to cut diesel use by 96%, gas by 50%, and reduce emissions by 65,000 tons annually. It displaced 1,100 TJ of gas per year and generated over 38,000 MWh during
