Australia-based Jacana Energy, a government-owned electricity retailer has signed a 10-year contracts with Plenitude to buy 45 MW solar power from farms in Katherine, Batchelor, and Manton Dam. Katherine and Batchelor are already exporting electricity; Manton Dam is preparing to do so. The deal adds more renewable energy to the Northern Territory and helps lower system costs. While most customers won’t see a bill change, savings reduce government energy subsidies. This allows funds to be used for other priorities. Plenitude is finalising technical steps for full export.
