Australia-based Iberdrola has recently installed around 3,800 solar panels on the rooftops of Adelaide Airport’s domestic and international terminalsBy adding 2.3 MW to the existing solar infrastructure, the airport’s total solar capacity expanded to 3.5 MW. The expansion enabled annual generation of approximately 3,282 MWh for on-site consumption. Previously, the airport operated two similar rooftop systems totaling 1.28 MW capacity. Adelaide Airport became the first major airport in Australia to achieve carbon neutrality, by the end of 2024. It sources all electricity from renewables, including on-site solar and wind farms at Lake Bonney, and handles more than 8 million passengers annually.
