Spain-based Global Power Generation, part of the Naturgy group, has began operations of the Cunderdin Hybrid PV Solar + BESS Project after over three months of commissioning. It includes 229,500 solar modules with 128 MW capacity and a battery energy storage system of 55 MW/220 MWh. The system supplies four hours of daily peak demand power and is expected to avoid 140,000 tons of CO₂ emissions, generating energy equal to the annual use of 51,000 homes. The project involved about 100 full-time roles and invested over $229,000 in local community activities. Monford Group served as the EPC contractor, managing construction and delivery of project infrastructure. Located in Western Australia's SWIS region, it is the first large-scale solar and battery system in the area and the first hybrid project of its kind. This project follows GPG’s AUD 2.3 billion financing with 11 banks for Australian renewables and a €1 billion EIB loan secured for Spain.
