Madrid-headquartered Global Power Generation has officially launched the Cunderdin Hybrid PV Solar + BESS project in Western Australia. The launch took place on April 1st 2025, following a three-month commissioning phase. The project is the region’s first large-scale hybrid solar and battery storage facility. It includes 229,500 solar panels with 128 MW capacity and a 55 MW / 220 MWh battery system, designed to supply four hours of steady power daily. It aimed to generate electricity for 51,000 households each year and reduce 140,000 tons of CO₂ emissions. The total investment was €172 million (~$190.75 million), with over $229,000 directed to community programs. The project created 100 full-time jobs and connected to the South Western Interconnected System.
