Australia headquartered Fortescue has commenced construction of the 440 MW Solomon Airport solar farm in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Once completed, the project is expected to become the largest solar development in Western Australia. The project will install approximately 671,000 solar panels and is scheduled for completion in 2028. The solar farm is expected to provide around one-third of the solar capacity required for Fortescue’s Real Zero target. Fortescue is also progressing the 190 MW Cloudbreak solar farm, which is currently about two-thirds complete. A proposed 644 MW Turner River solar project is expected to begin construction later in 2026. Together with the existing 100 MW North Star Junction solar farm, the projects could deliver around 1.3 GW of solar capacity.
