US-based Arevon Energy, Inc. has started operations at the Eland 1 Solar-plus-Storage Project in Kern County, California. The site, located in Mojave, features 384 MW DC of solar capacity and 150 MW/600 MWh of storage. A second phase, Eland 2, is under construction and set to go live by Q1 2025. Together, both phases will deliver 758 MW DC of solar power and 300 MW/1,200 MWh of storage. Total investment for the phases exceeds $2 billion. Eland 1, built by SOLV Energy, employed 325 workers. The project will contribute $18 million to local communities over its lifespan. Power is sold via a long-term agreement with LADWP and Glendale Water and Power. Arevon currently operates 3 GW of renewable assets and has 700 MW under construction.
