Ampion Renewable Energy is partnering with The Wendy’s Company to source renewable energy for nearly 100 company-operated and 40 franchise restaurants in New York, Illinois, and Massachusetts. According to the company, these restaurants, enrolled in Ampion+, will source 30% to 100% of their energy from solar without installing onsite panels. Wendy’s aims to expand participation as more solar capacity becomes available. This initiative helps reduce reliance on fossil fuels by supplying renewable electricity to local utility grids. Wendy’s has set science-based targets to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 47% and Scope 3 emissions by 2030. Through Ampion, Wendy’s has enrolled 27.5 million kWh in community solar, equivalent to CO2 emissions from the electricity used by over 2,200 homes annually.
