Zenith Volts Corp. (ZVC), an energy infrastructure firm, has received approval from the Chaves County Commission for a large-scale data center project near Roswell, New Mexico. The facility is planned on a 300-acre area within an 8,500-acre site, designed to support 1.25 GW of capacity with future expansion. It is scheduled to become operational by November 2027. The site has integrated multiple power systems, including on-site solar, modular solar-thermal hybrids with thermal storage, natural gas backup, a 250-acre battery storage system, and geothermal cooling. The design supports more than 600 computing modules, ensuring scalable and reliable operations. The project was expected to create 140 permanent jobs and strengthen the county’s role in technology and energy. ZVC has engaged technology companies and cloud providers to shape the facility’s requirements.
