US-based real estate and investment company Younan Properties has announced plans to develop a utility-scale solar and storage project in California. This large-scale project will be undertaken through its Soleil Renewable Energy platform and is located in East Kern County on approximately 3,200 acres of owned land. The deployment is designed to include 880 MW DC (700 MW AC) of PV capacity with a 460 MW BESS capacity. Once operational, the facility is estimated to produce around 1,900 to 2,000 GWh of power annually. The installation's early-stage development has progressed through land acquisition, third-party land appraisal, and initial grid interconnection activities with the California Independent System Operator, along with parallel coordination with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. The project's commercial operations are slated for mid-2028, subject to the completion of environmental permitting and grid interconnection approvals.
