Yaskawa America, Inc., based in the US, has announced that it will invest $180 million to combine its Illinois and Wisconsin operations into one large new campus in Franklin, Wisconsin. The new facility will cover 800,000 square feet and bring all its offices and factories together in one place. The project includes relocating its North American headquarters and training facility from Waukegan, Illinois, and is expected to create over 700 high-paying jobs over the next 8–10 years. The new site will house manufacturing, packaging, robotics, semiconductor operations, and solar inverters. Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation approved up to $18 million in performance-based tax credits.Local and regional entities, including Governor Evers, the City of Franklin, and Milwaukee 7, supported the expansion.
