Chile-based Verano Energy has closed financing for the Domeyko Solar + Battery Energy Storage System project in northern Chile’s Atacama Region. The project consists of an 83 MW solar plant with 660 MWh of storage and is scheduled to begin operations by late 2026. Total capex was estimated at USD 247 million. Financing included a USD 176 million project term loan from SMBC, Société Générale, and Scotiabank, and USD 12 million in VAT debt financing from Scotiabank. Equity was arranged through Verano’s partnership with Lumina Capital Management. A long-term PPA with Abastible was signed in December 2024 to secure revenues. Construction was underway, and the project reinforced Verano Energy’s position as a developer, EPC contractor, and independent power producer in Latin America.
