Valley Beth Shalom, a premier Conservative synagogue in Los Angeles has nearly completed a $1.24 million solar project, featuring over 850 Q Cell rooftop panels installed by Sunistics Group. The system is expected to generate about 615,000 kWh annually, offsetting over 75% of its historical electricity use and saving around $180,000 per year. The project had a payback period of under five years. Funding came from the Jewish Solar Challenge, Adamah's Climate Action Fund, Beneficial State Bank, and federal incentives. VBS integrated the project into its schools' curricula to promote climate education. The initiative positioned VBS as a model for energy efficiency in faith-based institutions.
