TotalEnergies, a Paris-based integrated energy company that partnered with Google, a technology services company from California, USA, under a long-term solar Power Purchase Agreement in Malaysia. In August 2023, TotalEnergies was awarded a 49% stake in the Citra Energies solar project in Malaysia by the Malaysian Energy Commission together with its partner MK Land holding a 51% stake in the Corporate Green Power Programme. The two companies later entered into a PPA agreement valid for 21 years and a total of 1 TWh or 20MW from the solar power plant to be constructed in Kedah province. The construction of this power project is expected to take place in early 2026 and will cater to the electricity needs of the Google data centers. According to TotalEnergies, the PPA has a provision that will be effective after the attainment of Financial Close in the first quarter of 2026.
