Mexican solar panel manufacturing company, Tonalli Energía Solar has opened first Mexican-owned solar panel manufacturing facility in Puebla, located in the FINSA Industrial Park. The facility has the capacity to produce 200,000 solar panels annually and is expected to generate approximately 200 direct and 1,000 indirect jobs. The construction involved a total public-private investment of about MX$325 million(~ $17.2 million). According to state authorities, 800 solar panels from the facility will be supplied over the next year to help reduce electricity costs for educational institutions. The factory will also supply panels and water extraction equipment to 3,000 agricultural societies across Puebla. In the project’s second phase, operations are planned to move to San José Chiapa.
