Tiger Group and GESemi have started accepting offers for around 600 crates of decommissioned manufacturing and testing equipment from Ubiquity Solar in Endicott, New York. The equipment came from Alta Devices, which produced thin-film gallium arsenide (GaAs) solar cells for use in satellites, drones, and electric vehicles. Ubiquity Solar acquired these assets in March 2021. The sale includes machines from brands like Aixtron, Attolight, GigaMat, SCHMID, and KLA Corp, with some machines still unused and configured for gallium nitride applications. Also offered are nearly 200 patents and other intellectual property related to GaAs manufacturing. The tools can support an annual production capacity of 150 kW (AM0), with partial equipment to scale up to 1.5 MW. The available equipment spans sputtering, plating, wet processing, testing, and assembly systems. All machinery had been in use until 2021 and was professionally decommissioned.
