US based Tesla has announced that it had started producing a new residential solar panel at Gigafactory New York in Buffalo. The first deliveries were expected in Q1 2026. The company had previously scaled back its solar business, with deployments falling low enough that reporting was paused, before recent efforts to revive the segment. Tesla updated its solar panel specifications from 405 W to 410 W, which closely matched Hanwha Qcells’ Q.PEAK DUO ML-G10+ model, though it remained unclear whether these specifications applied to the newly announced panel. Earlier in the month, Tesla relaunched its solar leasing product, citing increased residential solar demand linked to policy changes, including the planned end of the 30% US residential solar tax credit. During the Q3 earnings call, Tesla confirmed that production of its own residential solar panel had begun in Buffalo, marking a shift from earlier arrangements where panels were manufactured by Panasonic or rebranded from Hanwha.
