TerraForm Power, a North America-based renewable energy company, has announced the acquisition of the 1.56 GW Steward Creek Solar project in Lee County, Illinois, from Hexagon Energy. The disclosure states that the acquisition has expanded the company’s pre-construction solar and battery storage pipeline to nearly 7 GW, with assets primarily located across the PJM and SERC regions. The filing also notes that the project has reached a key milestone through the execution of a 600 MW interconnection agreement involving TerraForm Power, Commonwealth Edison, and PJM Interconnection. The solar development is planned in two phases, with each phase projected to produce around 1.3 GWh annually once operational. Phase 1 of the portfolio is set to begin construction in 2027 and reach commercial operation in 2029, while Phase 2 is scheduled to installation in 2028 and achieve commercial operation in 2030.
