The US solar technology and services firm, SunPower Inc. has announced the launch of the “Monolith” solar panel under its joint development agreement with REC Group. The panel was introduced as a frameless residential product rated at 470 W and weighing 50 lb, meeting U.S. OSHA single-worker limits. SunPower held exclusive rights to the REC Alpha Pure-TX 470 W version, which was already in production at the time of announcement. The partnership focused on developing high-wattage bifacial panels for residential and light commercial markets, with plans to increase output beyond 500 W through bifacial capability. REC Group participated as the manufacturing partner, while SunPower positioned the product for system performance, installation efficiency and cost per kilowatt-hour considerations.
