Cambridge-based Solstice started enrollment for New Mexico’s new community solar program in April 2025. The program allowed people and businesses to access solar energy without installing rooftop panels. Participants signed up online and received discounts on their electricity bills. A University of New Mexico study projected that the program could create over 3,700 jobs and generate $517 million in economic impact within five years. Some spots were reserved for income-qualified households to get higher discounts. Businesses could also join and save on energy costs. Enrollment initially opened for Public Service Company of New Mexico customers. Solstice planned to extend access to Xcel Energy and El Paso Electric customers in the following weeks.
