Solarstic, a spinoff of Hyundai Motor Group, has showcased vehicle-integrated solar technology at CES 2026 in Las Vegas under the Hyundai Motor Group. The company presented polymer-based solar modules designed for integration into vehicle hoods, bonnets and roofs replacing conventional glass panels with lightweight polymer packaging. The injection-molded vehicle solar module has also received a CES Innovation Awards Honoree recognition in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category. Solarstic stated that combined exterior integration could generate up to 500 watts, reducing charging needs and extending vehicle range depending on usage. The technology was validated through proof-of-concept projects on Hyundai IONIQ 5 and ST1 electric models under real-world conditions. The product remained under development, with a potential market introduction indicated within one to two years. The company cited manufacturing complexity, durability, aesthetics and exterior safety as key challenges under ongoing testing.
