Silfab Solar, North American solar panel manufacturer, has acquired EnPV’s technology patent portfolio, including multiple solar technology patents, a trademark, and the Self-Aligned Back Contact (SABC) technology. This acquisition expanded Silfab’s intellectual property and was intended to support further development of its US-made solar panels, especially within the Silfab Elite Series. The SABC method allowed precise alignment and enhanced electrical performance in module production. As part of the deal, Silfab also onboarded EnPV’s team of experts to continue PV innovation. In 2024, Silfab received a $5 million US DOE innovation award for a $20 million project aimed at developing N-type back-contact cells targeting over 26 percent efficiency.
