US headquartered Origis Energy has secured a tax equity commitment from J.P. Morgan for the 210 MW Wheatland Solar project in Knox County, Indiana. The project is backed by a 20-year PPA with CenterPoint Energy. Wheatland had earlier obtained financing from MUFG in May 2025 as part of a broader portfolio. The package also includes the Optimist Solar & Storage project in Clay County, Mississippi. Optimist is planned with 285 MW of solar capacity. It also includes a 50 MW 4-hour storage system. Operations are expected in early 2026, while Origis Energy said Wheatland is scheduled to begin operations in Q1 2026. Latham & Watkins LLP was legal counsel for Origis Energy, while Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP served as Indiana counsel.
