The Ohio Power Siting Board has approved the 120MW Frasier Solar project in Knox County. The project, developed by Open Road Renewables, will be in Clinton and Miller Townships and Mount Vernon. It is expected to create over 200 construction jobs and 3 to 5 permanent positions. A PILOT agreement will provide up to $42.8 million in revenue for local schools and services, including $19.4 million for Mount Vernon schools. The project will use sheep grazing to maintain vegetation, supporting local farmers and preserving agricultural land. Frasier Solar will help meet Ohio’s growing electricity demand as energy-intensive industries expand. Grid operators have warned of potential shortfalls without new energy generation to support the state’s needs.
