Northern Sun Energy, a US-based solar and storage developer, has begun building a 7.5 MWp solar array with a 1.05 MVA battery in Illinois. The company said the system will directly power Prysmian, an Italy-headquartered cable manufacturer operating a plant in Du Quoin. PowerFlex, a US-based distributed energy developer, has partnered on engineering for the project. Northern Sun Energy added that the site uses a Tesla Megapack 2XL and over 10 800 modules. The system has been planned to support Prysmian’s Scope 1 and 2 reduction goals. It has also enabled Prysmian to participate in the state’s Illinois Shines program. Interconnection for the facility is scheduled for December 2025, according to Northern Sun Energy.
