Meyer Burger Technology AG, an US manufacturer of heterojunction technology (HJT) solar modules, has shut down its solar module production in Goodyear, Arizona on May 29, 2025, due to lack of funds. The site had an annual capacity of 1.4 GW. All 282 remaining employees received termination notices. The future of the site remained uncertain. The company was still in talks with an ad hoc group of bondholders regarding restructuring. This involved two convertible bonds issued by MBT Systems GmbH, guaranteed by Meyer Burger Technology AG, and maturing in 2027 and 2029. Further updates were expected when available.
