The Ohio Supreme Court has approved the Harvey Solar Project in Licking County, affirming the Ohio Power Siting Board’s 2022 decision after legal review. The ruling followed appeals filed by Save Hartford Township and 11 residents, which challenged the board’s approval and delayed project progress. The court determined that the opponents failed to prove the board acted unlawfully or unreasonably in granting the permit. Harvey Solar is a 350 MW PV project planned across approximately 2,600 acres of private land in Bennington and Hartford Townships. The project was developed by Open Road Renewables and was later acquired by LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy). According to project filings, the facility is expected to supply electricity to around 350,000 homes. The filings also stated that the project is expected to generate $3.15 million in annual property tax revenue and create about 300 local construction jobs. The construction of 350 MW facility is expected to take between 18 and 24 months following the ruling. Recently, Leeward Renewable Energy has launched the 177 MW Ridgely Solar project in Tennessee.
