Iberdrola has launched a takeover bid to acquire the remaining 16.2% of Neoenergia at BRL 32.50 (~$6.18) per share. The offer follows its earlier $2.2 billion PREVI transaction, which raised ownership to 83.8% under equivalent valuation terms. Iberdrola has estimated the remaining acquisition at about €1,030 million before interest adjustments or dividend considerations. Neoenergia stated that the move aims to simplify its structure, reduce listed-company costs, and improve operational flexibility. Following the announcement, Neoenergia’s stock rose more than 7.5% to BRL 32.40 (~$6.16), while serving around 40 million people across 18 states. With this transaction, Iberdrola reaffirms its commitment to Brazil and to a growth model based on electricity grids, which account for 90% of Neoenergia’s business. Recently, Iberdrola has expanded its alliance with Norges Bank through 708 MW of Spanish PV assets.
