Guyana Power and Light Inc. (GPL), a Guyana-based electricity generation and distribution utility, has commissioned the 3 MWp Hampshire Solar Farm in Region Six. As per GPL, the project marked another step in the country’s broader renewable expansion. Prime Minister Brigadier (Ret’d) Mark Phillips stated that the commissioning demonstrated continued progress under Guyana’s national energy agenda and followed the recent 5 MWp Onderneeming project on the Essequibo Coast. The Hampshire site was built with 4 928 modules, eight inverters and a 13.8 kV spur linking to the Canefield F3 feeder, and GPL noted that additional work at Prospect and Trafalgar was under way as part of a coordinated solar rollout supporting the Demerara-Berbice Interconnected System.
