The City of Green Bay, a municipal authority in Wisconsin, has approved a land lease and solar easement for a proposed 5 MW solar farm on city-owned land on the far east side. The Green Bay Finance Committee has recommended approval of the agreement with OneEnergy Renewables LLC and has revised the lease terms to increase the per-acre rental rate. The project site spans approximately 35 to 40 acres in a business park exclave off Algoma Road, where solar development is permitted under current zoning. The lease will run for an initial term of 30 years, with an option for a decade period of extension. Under the amended agreement, the annual lease rate has been set at $1,000 every acre. The project also includes annual utility aid payments of $5,000 per megawatt, totaling an estimated $25,000 per year, to be shared between the City of Green Bay and Brown County. The proposal will next be considered by the Green Bay City Council at its February 3 meeting.
